On March 23rd and 24th our Nerd Zone DevCamp took place in Karlsruhe. Host of the camp was Gameforge AG. Over 100 participants have shared several themes of software development and were able to get in touch with local IT-companies such as Exxeta AG, Unic GmbH, Brandmaker GmbH, Der Punkt GmbH and Synyx GmbH.
Game development companies are “crime scenes” of a mystery game. IT-specialists are invited into the premises of the company to show up the “murder”. Each company provides information (technical problems, faulty algorithms, etc.), which must be dissolved in teams and following a puzzle to be put together to solve the case. As a part of Berlin Web Week on May 7th 2013 students and graduates get insights in career and prospects for personal growth. CodeCaching is the scavenger hunt for techies in Karlsruhe. IT-students and specialists can download the free CodeCaching app for their android or apple device and start the search for QR-Codes in Karlsruhe. On the route they have to answer six tricky questions about Java, PHP or system administration. At the Nerd-Zone HacKAthon in Karlsruhe more than 50 coder worked hard within 24 hours to program an app which should be useful for nerdy residential communities.
